Former England striker Alan Shearer still believes Manchester City will go on to win the Premier League title this season despite their recent defeat.
The Citizens suffered their first defeat of the season in dramatic fashion at Bournemouth on Saturday. Leaving Liverpool, who beat Brighton, two points clear at the top of the table after 10 games.UFABET
However, Shearer still believes that Pep Guardiola’s side are still favourites to win the title this season. But it will be a very tight competition.
“I still see Manchester City as favourites but it’s a close call.” Shearer told The Rest Is Football podcast. “Liverpool did a lot better than we thought they would. I didn’t think they would come out on top and fight for the title but they did.”
“I’m disappointed with Arsenal and I had my eye on them before the season started. You still say Man City are favourites because they are still there.”
Gary Lineker, meanwhile, said: “I think I agree. Man City have done it, won it four times in a row.”
“You have doubts about whether you can catch them at some point. Because it’s very difficult to maintain the pressure that gets them through the finish line. I have to say they are still the favourites. I’ve been behind them since the beginning of the season and I’m not going to change my mind now.”
Micah Richards said: “I’m still going with Man City. Given what’s happened in the past. I think they’re still the favourites.”
