The 17-year-old midfielder joined Manchester United’s academy from Derby County last summer. Since then he has played for the U18s and U21s and even had the opportunity to train with Erik ten Hag’s senior team.

However, Scanlon has yet to make his senior debut for the Red Devils or be named in a competitive squad. But he recently became the club’s first player to play for Gibraltar’s senior team.

Scanlon came on as a substitute in the 74th minute of Gibraltar’s Nations League play-off 1-0 loss to Lithuania.

Danny Higginbotham, who also played for Manchester United, but he made his debut for Gibraltar national team, 13 years after moving from Old Trafford.
